Hey,

This tower is not far from where I grew up. It's always struck me as mysterious, and very old.

But what do you know - it was apparently built as a 'folly' for some dudes wife in the 1900s.

The doors are very much shorter than would be useful for a normal sized human of today.

What do we think?

Is it on a ley line do you know?

Were all these 'follies' really just status symbols or did they have another purpose?

I am not sure, but I just find it so ridiculous that all these towers were always made by some guy, as a present for his wife...

Wouldn't she prefer a puppy? Or a bottle of wine - as opposed to an ancient watch tower?
This one is about a 20 minute drive -

Another 'folly'

There is something at the exact tower location on the old maps I could find, but it is unlabeled on both. It is in the correct location, and is drawn as two distinct buildings, as the tower is a tower, and a guard house.
