Love the goose stepping in the first one. They look inspired.

Can someone explain what the hell these people are doing in the water at 7:28? Are these the foundlings and their children all grown up, not knowing what to do in the water or how to swim? Very weird behaviour. I get a lot of "people without beach towels" vibes from this...

There's a crowd lined up watching it as well? Do all those people "have next"? It's like they are all performing some weird water line dance. Except the dance is everyone awkwardly bird-bathing themselves.

Not with the TOWELS again! Both Jon Levi and Auto didactic made videos on YouTube about San Francisco and the Sutro Baths (power plant like Southland Tales I think) and couldn't stop about the lack of towels. AD said towel like fifty times. You're a towel!

There are so many beach towels in the 1936 video, you guys are crazy :) Is that goofball Barnabas Nagy still around? Someone let him know that we found the towels.

Just wanted to point out how out of place these people look at the beach. No selling towels here ?

Ever since these colorized films started circulating on the Internet, there was one thing that bothered me from the very beginning: something about these films seemed unnatural and flawed. Today I know why that is.

My guess is that AI technology has been used for years to generate colorized versions of black-and-white films.
At this point, I’d also like to question whether many of the old black-and-white films might actually be fakes.
That wouldn't surprise me at all, because ever since I was a child, my memories of my hometown of Chemnitz have differed greatly from the official photos and films of that time.
I could imagine that, after another RESET or world war, AI could be used to continue falsifying history.
