I'd like to suggest another reading as well, this one a bit more terrestrial. I suspect that these metaphors can all also be applied to the geopolitical "Great Game" in which rival mafia factions vie for control of the Earth. The film begins with the nuclear pact which previously held the principal nations together falling apart. In other words, with the collapse of the Old World Order. It looks to me like this is code for "Yahweh" taking out the pagan Gentile nations one by one in the OT. Moving to the Fomenkoverse, it also looks like the old covenant of Prester John falling apart in 1453 (conventional chronology). Next, the secret brotherhood must thwart the Entity and reconstruct the old pact, only this time under the unquestioned rule of their Messiah (Tom Cruise) who has acquired godlike powers by successfully ascending and defeating Yahweh. The red and white Templar key is exchanged for the "source code" (= the Torah). Does this symbolize Switzerland ceding its position as global mafia headquarters to Israel?
In game theory, the only way to "beat" the prisoners' dilemma (= game theory in a nutshell), is for all of the criminals to trust each other irrationally. Loyalty is humanity's only weapon against the Entity, which is nothing but the principle of "rational" self-interest. Throughout the movie, the Russians and the Americans are engaged in paranoid zero-sum confrontations with each other, with each side begging the other to abandon its marginally advantageous but ultimately destructive position in order for everyone to achieve a better outcome. But neither side will make the first sacrifice, and everyone continues to kill everyone. The only formation that can thwart this vicious circle is precisely a fraternal organization, one which (1) puts total faith in other brothers before ANY other concern, and (2) follows strict game theory with outsiders. Translated into geopolitical terms, only a global hegemon could theoretically create the conditions for "world peace". Which is why the word "peace" is code for "a one-world government ruled by the Messiah" in globalist speak.
This interpretation sheds light on the ambivalent dynamic between illuminated Jews and "normal" Jews. The latter worship Yahweh blindly, whereas the former actually want to usurp him. The elite identify with the Egyptian priests and magicians that kidnapped the Hebrews, subjected them to trauma-based mind control, and used them as a slave army. What's interesting here is that it shows that these secret society creeps like Tom Cruise seem to believe that through their dumb ascension rituals they can attain enough "wisdom" to rule the world morally. What unbelievable hubris. I do get the impression, watching these globalist scumbags talk, that many of them really believe that they alone are qualified to run the world due to their moral qualities (!).
Of course, in reality, Tom Cruise is a conflicted gay man, who has a lot of money, who has had a lot of plastic surgery, who engages in a lot of philanthropy, and who does his own stunts, which indeed shows bravery, but a bravery that is ultimately empty. He's not "crossing the abyss" by hanging from a plane in front of a camera. The REAL crossing of the abyss would involve giving away his money, allowing his face to age naturally, and entering psychoanalysis. But none of these narcissists have the stones for that. They'd rather play-act it on screen than do the real work.
