Tunnel Beach, NZ

I just finished watching Jon Levi's latest video, where Dunedin, NZ is mentioned. I 'went' there for some streetviewing.

Well, it turned out I had 'been' in the area before, searching for the 'Tunnel Beach' I heard read about in Atlas Obscura.
However, it seems that AO have now deleted the strange story around it. I still remember it though; I guess it is still out there, somewhere:
A local landlord in the 1870s, opening a tunnel through the rocks to create a path for...his daughter, in order for her to have her own private beach!
Some different hints about this daughter survive in wikipedia.

Well, streetviewing Tunnel Beach again, I noticed this, near and above the exit of the tunnel to the spectacular beach >

A european style crest, carved on a part of a rock a bit difficult to access, in a remote NZ beach and with the inner design looking like it was deliberately destroyed with gunshots...
What do you guys think about it?

I have taken a couple of other interesting screenshots from there, but it is a 'single photo' thread and I'll keep it that way until it rolls a bit.

I would definitely love to find out what that shield looked like in its original state.

It does not appear to be too long, but it does not mean it's an easy thing to make.

Ok, here are some more then...
How about those evenly sized black stones, where did they come from?
And that rectangular carved door/opening? Did the landlord create in the rocks a private WC for his daughter, too? LOL

And those big carvings on a fallen rock that seem to predate its falling/breaking?
There are several tourist memoir carvings around but this is a huge one.

Maybe it is this shield, from the Cargill monument in Dunedin.

It was hard to find a good pic (the wiki link for the actual monument is defunct) but thanks to this blog, we have a close up. Snake in a crown? Is this elaborate monument really for Cargill? I couldn't find any coat of arms for the NZ Cargills.

When I tried to street view it on Google Maps, it isn't even listed as a monument. The original flag for the Otago area is very occult-y too. Sun symbolism with the as above, so below.

I hope someone can find an image or sketch of the shield before it was destroyed. I am very intrigued.
