I watched this series with my son the last few years. It started off with a mysterious fire of all things that burns down the Boudelare mansion and leaves the three children orphans. The children get adopted by Olaf, who with his troupe of actors, devise scheme after scheme to get the Boudelare fortune. In investigating their parents murder the children find out that they were a part of a secret society. The VFD- Volunteer Fire Department. These weren't no ordinary fire fighters though as the members were essentially the elite of society. There was a schism in VFD and Olaf and a few others take it upon themselves, to burn everything VFD related and get their revenge. The movie ends with a fire of a beautiful VFD building/hotel just as it looks like everything will be ok. The symbol for the VFD is a giant eye. And they really play with the whole orphan theme, as the children are called orphans repeatedly, throughout the series. There's lots and lots and lots of other references to everything we're familiar with here. Here's a link to the trailers. and the VFD symbol.
