I think the airships/zeppelins in old photos were actually interplanetary. That would explain why we have no pictures of old spaceports. We do. The artwork from Spelljammer heavily implies you could fly a zeppelin into space

Zeppelins as spaceships is an interesting concept. I have something like a forgotten or repressed childhood memory of a very modern zeppelin with a metal hull and plasma propulsion that was very large and could fly high. In my memory, there were many protests about its construction because the money could have been better spent on saving whales. This zeppelin was then jokingly called the “sky whale.” However, people only made fun of this zeppelin until an accident occurred in which the zeppelin exploded and crashed due to a leak or something similar. This story sounds similar to that of the Hindenburg, but according to photos and films, the Hindenburg was a much more simply constructed zeppelin and not as sophisticated as the one in my memory. The zeppelin from my memory actually looked more like a spaceship. The crash of the zeppelin in my memory caused such a huge fire that people forgot and suppressed this tragedy. Years later, however, these memories came back to me. These memories could perhaps be an indication of a more modern Atlantis catastrophe that scientists do not want to deal with. All over the world, there are advanced civilizations that have disappeared, and it is always claimed that they disappeared thousands of years ago. But what if that is not true and they all disappeared “recently”?

I wouldn't be surprised if the Hindenburg disaster was a psyop to discourage space travel assuming zeppelins really can escape earth's orbit. Round earth model could also be a trick to prevent someone from just building a balloon and floating away. Nobody would stay on earth if they could leave. I'm trying to think of other old literary/film references to zeppelins that might reveal their hidden purpose
