I'm really late to the party here but I agree. In America here we know that ONE individual wrote or dictated all "American" history in the 19th century. Andrew Cunningham Mclaughlin. Born to scottish immigrants . . . . Wrote the books almost all current books are based off of.
I know much more but just a small dive into this person will be cause for concern as to all history taught about the US.

The JBS first opened my mind to historical manipulation or changing of the narrative, I don't follow them but it was a great way to "dip my toe in".
If anyone wants to see an interesting series JBS to the victor go the myths and monuments. Just this series alone will open your mind to the concepts of mass manipulation through media (yes even in the 1700's). Start there, then go into Ben Franklin as a ritual satist.
You know, Dip your toe in . . .
I'd like to dive into Mclaughlin but it only serves as a distraction from researching more important topics.
Once you know the source material is tainted, you needn't waste time on basing conclusions on the data.
