Colour HD footage of bombed out Berlin 1 month after war

Came across this just now.

Somethings don't ring true.

Do people in general here appear like they've just come out of 6 years of war? This is suposedly a month after the surrender.

The buildings and roads appear eerily similar to these imo San fransisco especially in the last scenes.

I expected everything to be flattened? Or much more destroted, totalled.

It feels a little, well, fake?

Easy for me to say from my armchair I guess.

Thoughts?

Many of the activities, like passing the water buckets, look forced for the camera. The people are all mostly very aware of the camera, like it had a sign on it to look that way. The ones that aren't tend to be closer to the camera oddly enough. The lady sewing(?) with the bright red/pink fabric on the 2nd floor of a building missing a wall is not capturing a spontaneous act, in my opinion.

I don't know, overall it looks like the damage you'd expect but maybe cleaner than it should be after only a month. However, that may have been the point of the video and this is really only conveying a small section of the city or filming from flattering angles, so to speak.

The people generally make me uneasy though. Something is off, but that tends to be the case in the older footage.... But 1945 is relatively recently. Or so they say.

The first image shows an amputee hobbling. I've seen enough propaganda to know how it works. Reel 'em in early.

Yes, the older people look into the camera with disgust, but the younger girls giggle - I guess because they do not comprehend the implications of the situation and are giddy to be on camera.... and what is that one girl's gesture she makes in front of her forehead at 1:39? Kinda looks like "Nanny Nanny Boo Boo".

Their clothes and shoes are pristine. Their hair perfectly coiffed. It was a different time then - people didn't wander into Wal-Marts in pajamas. They had pride, but still... If I were German then, I would have realized my country, my way of life, my children's future was destroyed. It would not have occurred to me to wake up in a "bombed-out" ruinous mess, iron my clothes, roll my hair, and shine my shoes so that I could look presentable for the ememy's cameras while passing a pail of water for survival.

IDK, though. We're given just enough to know somethin' ain't right, but not enough to prove to others that it is wrong. It's like we're stuck in limbo.
