There is no such thing as an 'inherent Christian moral compass'. You might characterise it that way - but you placing your beliefs ahead of reality. Without getting into the truth of the story. it is certain you weren't born knowing the bible - someone taught it to you. Perhaps certain Christian moral ideas are conveyed by the culture, as you say - but it is not innate. We would agree if you said we each have 'inherent moral compass'.
The majority of people from Western descent have a moral compass that broadly alligns with what Jesus described how we should view the world. Yet the majority of these same people would not identify themselves as Christian or even denounce it. (I said as much in my post)
The current secular humanistic mindset is a consequence of the Enlightenment, which in it's turns was a distillation of Roman law, greek philosophy and a Christian set of morals/ethos. (aka Western/European civilisation)
Obviously noone is born of any faith, we're all born atheistic/agnostic and then
indoctrinated by whatever environment you were brought up in. In a typical Western household, even to this day, that secular mindset still closely resembles what Jesus actually said.
-
Everyone has basic human rights
- Don't do unto others what you don't want done to yourself
- Hold to truth, truth over honor
- Seperation between church and state (this is a deep theological point, the world is fallen hence we're called to be in the world, not of the world)
- Love your enemies
The rest of the world does not operate, and has no operated on this moral code, and it's why we have the division between the "Western" world and the 2nd and 3rd world. By any measurable statistic on human rights, living conditions, animal rights, ... Western countries blow everything else out of the water.
And that's not because "Western countries bombed the hell out of those 3rd world countries". We have the internet, you can go see yourself what life is like in these countries, what the people themselves believe and feel. The 3rd world is not a place a Westener wants to live. It's not a place where they want to live, it's why they're migrating to the West.
It's fine if you're not religious, I don't care about it, I'm all about freedom of religion. But I'm also about truth and calling a spade a spade, even if that spade denies being called a spade. If you see merit in the Christian values I've listed above, you're somewhat alligned with the Christian moral compass, wether you believe it's all a fairytale or not is kind of moot.
The larger point I made is people of European descent by and large still hold this Christian moral compass in their heart, despite being raised by atheistic parents who hold the same (Christian) moral compass.
That Christian heritage specifically is what TPTB are looking to get rid off (direct anwser to OP's question).
