This is the Opera House in Timisoara, Romania, a building I know very well (dare to say I grew up in it).
I always had an uneasy feeling about it, SOMETHING was always not right, inside and out.
Outside:
As you see in the picture, the old facade fits the surrounding architecture very well, the new one, not so much...
Inside:
The floor level is about the middle of the windows, meaning half the windows are below floor level, like it was renovated without moving the windows, just left them that way. Same situation on the upper levels, floors hitting the windows about half way. Creepy.
Also, the lobby: as you enter through the front doors, you step down, the lobby and the whole first level (parter), is below ground level 3-4 feet (a meter or so).
And of course, we have the same weird history of the whole city being built on a swamp. Sure.
