Really the post I made was a reply to "Searching."
Nevertheless;
The simple and general truth is that matter has magnetism: Virtually all matter has a magnetic field. What we call gravity is magnetism in matter: Virtually all matter, even diamagnetic matter, has a magnetic field. That's the simplified and basic truth to gravity.
Gravity is associated with mass generally and inaccurately, but nevertheless staying with that fundamental Einsteinian idea; as matter accumulates a cumulative progression of the strength of the combined magnetic fields of independent bodies/particles of matter progresses. At some point in accumulation a threshold is crossed, and at some point on this progression the accumulative scales of combined magnetic materials forms a coherent magnetic field, and after which a so-called gravitational field results and which has a coherent magnetic field.
The natural form of matter is to form a clump because it is magnetic. If you doubt that then take a hammer and smash up a magnet. That is a primitive but effective means to demonstrate the correlation of particles of matter forming a clump. Gravity is magnetism and magnetism is a product of inducted energies. This is not a complex thing, it just takes a lot of barfing to explain it, and this is about as simply as I can explain it without becoming too simplified.

Flat, round, or hollow are all fun things to digest, but ultimately there's a reason for these meme's being injected in the public forum.
Science abandoned rationality when it became the province of organized education, and it was that system which embraced Einstein. It did not embrace Tesla, it did not give credit to Steinmetz, and didn't do justice to most all the great pioneers. Now what's that tell you: That it's a criminally operated system? Absolutely, but then the origins of organized education come from organized religion so there's a long underground history to the cultivation and control over thought. Organized religion functioned as the voice of God until changing perceptions produced by technology and other factors necessitated a revised plan. So today those old claimed provinces of the church now are in the hands of officially approved science.
To explain a flat plate planet or a bowl requires a different explanation for gravity, a different one than the one I gave, and so is there one? Why yes there is, and because of it ideas about actually terraforming planetary bodies in to flat plates have been proposed. Most of this stuff is now buried in science fiction history but as a kid ideas about macro~engineering planets into flat plates and ring worlds were not uncommon.
The lunatics at Space.com have here a newer revised edition of how to wreck a planet to build paradise. I refer you now to nuclear power as another one of their proposed cure all potions.
