I came across this invitation from the Grand Army of the Republic to the unveiling of the Soldiers & Sailors Monument in downtown Buffalo, 1884. The G.A.R. is kinda boring. Civil War veterans. Just thought this was an interesting bit of artwork.

And here is what made me take a second look. What on earth is that pile of war-junk bouquet on the right? I have attached a zoomed in view:

Notice the badge at the bottom that shows a very tall person in the middle of two short people. Interesting design for a civil war veterans group. And seriously, what is all that junk? See anything else? And, put your hands up if you live in the U.S. and you have an identical monument in your city!

Indianapolis has one! And...
It's those or other WAR memorials. Use the old, maybe knock off the top for a new statue of some HERO or other. Put a new plaque on. Polish it up with a Masonic symbol.

Ding ding ding, Indy is on the board! You guys chose the 'Obelisk 2000' design from the "War Memorials" catalog. Fine choice!

1888 there, IT says.
And there are OTHERS. Anyone? Anyone?...
Indy's celebrating "Hoosiers" from "the war". Reminds me of KVJ and Cat's Cradle AGAIN. Those "Hoosiers" get around.

I work down there and the monument still exists and there are these circular rounds now roads, the monument is in the middle and always the old world buildings surround the monuments (the ones that are still left) the oddest part of the buildings that survived near the monuments have all ancient world depictions on their design throughout the brick work. Everywhere. The next circle downtown over a block is another monument in a circle and again old world buildings, gigantic blocks, and old ancient world depictions of Greek looking vases and people on the buildings. Nothing looks remotely like this in anything built after 1930
