They say this was constructed by the Union Pacific RR to mark the highest point of the line’s journey across the USA. They say they brought in Massachusetts’ architect Henry Hobson Richardson to build it. Of course no architectural plans exist. Locals carved out the granite from “local outcropping.” Some of the blocks weigh “a few tons.” No pictures of its construction exist. There is no information on its foundation. How deep does it go?

Note the similarity with Inca stone construction:

Richardson, who died young in poverty, is a somewhat mysterious figure who built many of the era’s “insane asylums” including the Buffalo State Asylum for the Insane.

I love your posts jonnye.

I love your posts jonnye.

[Verse 1]
The walls you build up, stone by stone
The fields divided one by one
And the train conductor says, “Take a break, Driver 8
Driver 8, take a break, we've been on this shift too long”

[Chorus]
And the train conductor says
(Driver 8) “Take a break, Driver 8
(Driver 8) Driver 8, take a break
We can reach our destination
We're still a ways away”
(But it's still a ways away)

[Verse 2]
I saw a treehouse on the outskirts of the farm
The power lines have floaters so the airplanes won't get snagged
The bells are ringing through the town again
The children look up, all they hear is sky-blue bells ringing

[Chorus]
And the train conductor says
(Driver 8) “Take a break, Driver 8
(Driver 8) Driver 8, take a break
We can reach our destination
But we're still a ways away.”
(But it's still a ways away)
But we're still a ways away
(But it's still a ways away)

[Bridge]
A way to shield the hated heat
A way to put myself to sleep
A way to shield the hated heat
A way to put myself, my children to sleep

[Verse 3]
He piloted this song in a plane like that one
She is selling faith on the Go Tell crusade
Locomotive 8, Southern Crescent, hear the bells ring again
In the fields the wheat is lookin' thin

[Chorus]
And the train conductor says
(Driver 8) “Take a break, Driver 8
(Driver 8) Driver 8, take a break
We've been on this shift too long”
And the train conductor says
“Take a break, Driver 8
Driver 8, take a break
We can reach our destination
We're still a ways away”
(But it's still a ways away)
But we're still a ways away
(But it's still a ways away)

Saw this one yesterday and a bunch of low intelligence "individuals" cheering on arson, what a sad state of society
I know, it's clownworld. Just real quick, this fire for some reason made me remember couple years ago here in us that whole bullshit about tearing down statues of confederate generals and all that....this being SH, I gladly admit I have no freaking idea what really happened during the civil war...
And also, is that there way of getting stupid young people to do their work for them?....erasing history....

Southerners like to call it "The War Between the States." That is basically what it was. When General Lee invaded the northern states his army was made up of various military organizations from the various states; for example Hood's Texas Division that had an attached Arkensas brigade. Same for the north: for example; "The Iron Brigade" were boys from Michigan or "The Irish Brigade" were fellows from New York.

Most people have no idea how difficult it is to build a pyramid. This one isn’t standardized in any way. It’s over 150 years old now and shows no sigh of wear and tear; no crumbling, no loosening of stones and all done without cement. There had to be some real precision stone cutting out there in the middle of nowhere.
