What are you listening to?

I prefer to listen to classical music alone. But I see it more as a distraction to dispel the ever-present background noise. Since I know that music is not as beautiful as it seems, the mystery is gone. After all, music comes from the army, think of trumpets, drums, bagpipes. So, forget about those brainwashing machines. I love the silence of nature, and then quite well with other natural sounds such as voices, wind, storm. But I've actually had enough of the egoism and violence of music. Of course there are beautiful vocal pieces, sung out of love. But in essence that is for intimate use.

Some music, most certainly has roots in the military, but not all music. Music also has roots in cultural, spiritual, ceremonial, and healing tradition.

Music theory extends far beyond percussive marching beats, mind-numbing pop, etc. Not to say that all enjoyable music must be meaningful or even special, but it surely can be.
