SH Archive Whose are these heads?

Not going to post the source of this image just yet but having downloaded it and spun it around to get each head at the correct point I wondered who they represent and why they are at the cardinal points and what is the identity of the fruit, nuts and flowers around them? Could be artistic placement but its a ceiling boss, probably in plaster or staff, I think.

So here's the original with the four heads 'spun round' beneath it. So have at it my friends, who are they and which one is north if any?

I actually am thinking this is a seasonal thing. Lion head dude is Summer. Young kid is Spring. Statue of Liberty is Autumn and dead looking dude with gargoyle wings and head wrap is winter. So, yup, prolly solstice/equinox jibber jabber. LOL!

I have no idea. Seasonal thing is the most logical conclusion to make here. At the same time were those ancients so infatuated with stuff like this to transfer it into art?

I am also seeing a mother/father and brother/sister. Seems that Liberty and 5-Star are old and the other two are children? Sun and Moon, Jack and Jill, Mary and Jesus, etc. So yeah, more solstice/equinox/zodiac stuff.

Well, Apollo and Artemis were bother/sister. Their parents were Leto and Zeus. I don't know if that helps.

My thinking is that the the sun rises in the east, sets in the west, so the sunny crown on the right is the sun rise and the star above the head of the one on the left represents night.

But looking at the fruit... Our months are off now. It is obvious by their names which stem from the Latin counting system. As I am more familiar with another Latin language, I will equate it to Spanish.

September=siete=7
October=ocho=8
November=nueve=9
December=diez, deca=10

So September ain't the 9th month and so on. It makes sense to start the year in the beginning of spring anyway. Spring represents new life. Why start a new year 10 days after the winter solstice?

The baby on the top represents spring. New life, I think the flowers are blossoms. All fruit begins as a blossom.
Then, we have summer. The face is of a young woman of child-bearing age. Fertile. Ready to propagate seed. The crown represents the sun. Many fruits begin to become harvestable during this time.
The old man on the bottom represents fall. The last fruits of the season are ready before the freeze. The leaves symbolize this.
The guy with his head covered is winter. His eyes are closed symbolizing dormant ground. He seems surrounded by nuts, which are seeds needed to start the cycle again in the spring. The star may allude to Bethlehem and the star that guided the wise men to Jesus on winter solstice.
And it's in a circle, the circle of life, like The Lion King...

You know, or not.

Hercules or Heracles and your family? The seasons and their fruit varieties? The veiled woman has bat ears, the guy a lion hood, the child bird wings, and the "statue of liberty" does not seem to have any animal accessories. It is a beautiful notch.

The liberty looking one has the most variety of foodstuffs in their cornucopia. There's acorns, radishes, what looks to be bell peppers, corn (maybe) and possibly a fruit like peaches. The baby just has flowers. The young lady has what, to me, looks like cabbage, artichokes and something in the melon family. Bearded guy has what appears to be figs and grapes, maybe some almonds. It's a lot easier to identify this stuff in the field. Lol. Still, it may serve as a few clues to narrowing down our guessed.

Not on the southern side of the plain (hemisphere) it's not.

The new year didn't always start on the first of the year. It used to be on April 1st. The calendar conundrum thread explains it.

We also didn't always have seasons. Or this "gangsta lean" or "wobble" (23 degrees and HOLDING). Just differing climes closer or farther from the equator.
