What happened to the grim Victorian hardships portrayed in History lessons?
Edit. Some of those boys look remarkebly similar, plus the old 'hand in jacket' training them young!
Edit - edit. It appears there is a longer version made for The Worlds Fair in Cork, 1902. Off to take a look.

Turns out the final 3 minutes were shot in Wexford, not Cork
