David City, Nebraska appeared suddenly with complex architecture. The first election was in 1868 with it 68 votes being cast which indicated a population in the county of approximately 200. They say the new courthouse was constructed in 1889 when the population was 2,000.

St. Mary’s Catholic Church. They say it was built in 1941. No photos of its construction exist, nor plans, nor the architect.

No information about this demolished high school. David City’s population today is 3,000.

Ok, so 2000 population when this was 'built'. A courthouse that's basically a small Penn station. Sure. I suppose the bricks were made on site. And those 2000 Nebraskans probably just pitched in the money for it. Maybe they did a coin toss, heads for an extravagant giant courthouse, tails for a large sprawling magnificent mental asylum. Hell, it was probably a roman coin. Thanks jonnye, good one.

I think it's all part of a massive scam. "Build" the courthouse (or massive sprawling insane asylum) and bilk the taxpayers with nobody the wiser.

Edit- <my bad jonnye, I think I misread you here, so yeah totally agree, disregard my original comment>Maybe, but personally, I see this type of architecture as possible evidence for someone else being there first. I see them as repurposed pre-existing structures. It's a scam one way or another.
