To me it implies that the war is fake if after three years that is the extent of infrastructure damage. If this were a real conflict, no one in Europe should be worried about Russia at all. One good three day hurricane has done almost as much damage.

It seems familiar, now I can't remember if I read it or not. I was in the military, but I'm not exactly sure what your question is? I was in operation Desert storm, the first gulf war. I never interfaced with any media. We were running through the desert in tanks. It was real. It was pretty straightforward. We destroyed their military in six weeks and set the stage for our future occupation/colonization.
I don't know, it's so weird. When I think of wars in the modern sense, even WWII has holes in the official story. But say the Falklands thing. That was real. You can tell. The Arab Israeli wars in what 67 and 73, they seemed real. Afghanistan was never anything but an occupation. This Ukraine thing is complete bullshit.
Sorry rambling you know me, but to your point, yeah they are never as portrayed I agree. On one hand, is it real or fake in the first place? Then, either way, there is a whole slew of angles/motives/true intentions; money, control, as you said relocation, hell offerings to moloch are probably in there somewhere, all of it. Mop up operations from the initial invasion, securing/destroying remaining artifacts from our previous world. Finding a Stargate. Who knows.

Did you have any engagement though, firing at soldiers etc? I don't think there was much in the gulf war. I'd also be interested to know if there were casualties, and what was the cause? Perhaps due to the speed and danger of moving heavy equipment?
I did not personally shoot at anyone. But for context, I was a Vulcan (remember) and my job was to shoot down planes. I ran with M1s and Bradley's. There were no planes. By the time we commenced ground operations our air power had already destroyed their air force. But there was some ground action. Tanks got hit, guys got killed. And yeah when half a million guys with heavy equipment are moving people die from accidents, a lot. My unit was maybe a hundred guys, we lost one because he picked up a minelet from a cluster bomb. His name was Rucker.

Also, again just to contextualize a bit; the first gulf war was classic chess piece open desert armoured warfare. Tanks planes artillery. No infantry no kicking in doors, <edit ok there was a bit, for like two hours>it was vehicular so to speak. Later operations were just that (Afghanistan as well) , classic boots on ground man vs man. They are very different beasts. When you kill someone in a tank at 3000 meters, it's different than shooting/stabbing someone up close. Almost the difference between playing a video game and a bad bar fight.
Not many kia for us, a lot for them. I'll tell you some of my theories about the gulf later, time for work.

You should read the Wikipedia on it it's pretty good. I will tell you with God as my witness that to be a part of something like that is an incredible feeling. I remember being out in the desert where we lived. We were there for months before we went into action. Our lives were so good then in the strangest ways. No TV no radio no booze no drugs. No lights. No beds. We had smokes, tapes from home and each other. A letter would make you cry. We went to bed when it was dark and got up when it was light.
I remember chilling on top of my track at dusk plus a little, having a smoke surrounded by sleeping beasts made of steel and aluminum and titanium. Despite our predicament, the war and all that which hadn't really started for us, I have never felt that safe or that powerful. We were invincible in that moment.
Quick funny anecdote, waking up with a bunch of m1 tanks sounds like being at an airport, they have turbine engines.
Last bit on war stories, the Americans and British received unapproved vaccinations once we were in theater and not in the US (not FDA approved). They were meant to counteract nerve agent exposure. Vanity fair did a piece which I'm not looking up basically saying that gulf war syndrome was the result of these vaccines. No one ever cared and I don't know the percentage of my friends who ended up with it (basically a collection of autoimmune stuff, ALS etc), but it was high.
I didn't put the pieces together till years later for myself. When we got the shot, I got crazy sick for three days. I was shitting and puking the whole time. No one would have thought it was the shot esp back then; we were in a hostile desert environment etc.
I never got gulf war syndrome, and I realize that when I got sick it was my body purging the shot.
My theory is they wanted to purge the us military of people who came from and followed the traditions. Experienced, good soldiers.
