Came across this ship a few days ago when looking for a pre 1855 US flag. After reading on couple of sites that these things were flown primarily on government and military installations I reasoned best chance of finding one would be at a shipyard. Turns out that wasn't the case but the USS St Mary's is flying 'a flag' but whose I leave that to others to fathom.

USS St. Mary's in the first dry dock established at Mare Island Navy Yard, circa 1854. The sectional dry dock was built in New York and shipped out to California in sections around Cape Horn. USS St. Mary's was one of the first ships to use the dock.
