Also the way archeology is presented in the main stream is always a variation on a theme. I'll take a stab at the subtext I fel pervades these types of articles: 'Here is something exciting! It could be earth shattering! But psyche, it's probably not going to be anything experts haven't heard of before. Fooled you, and got the click, you little child, hoping for a good story. Let the experts sort it out. Now go buy something on Amazon."

I can't believe they tried to dismiss it saying it was "probably" an old dock. Oh, okay then, what will they tell us next? I think railroad is an interesting idea.

With how deep it had been buried until now, and the fact that the Florida shoreline was a bit further away than what it is now, it seems highly unlikely that it is a dock, but that is my opinion. I am glad that you touched on this subject because I couldn't believe the news report when I saw it on television, I was excited. There are also people finding "ancient" Spanish coins that have washed up on shore from the storm.

They have also been trying to per suey people not to swim in these areas because of "dangerous debris" and the raw sewage, but I think it is just a cover up. Some believe that Florida was part of Atlantis, and could this be remnants?

When I think of trnlfrdm88's thought of railway I start to think of the intercoastal waterway that goes from New England to Florida, and wonder if this is part of an old system that was once traveled by land.

Just wanted to let you know that I watched a report about our "mysterious" object in the sand, and the report now stands that they believe it is a ship from the 1800's. Seems remarkable that they can determine this without even doing any dig work. To me I see the ocean waves still crashing upon it with no one around to investigate.

I guess this is at Daytona Beach. I can't believe it, but I may have walked right over this when I was about 12 years old, on my visit to Daytona Beach. And that was well over thirty years ago. I will keep my ears, and eyes open for more info.
