If such a collection would exist with the real McCoy nobody would exhibit it and nobody would ever get to see it. The owner would be shot, or skinned alive or roasted slowly like a chicken by TPTB, every record of him ever existing would be erased, and all his family and acquaintances would in the best case be MKULTRA'ed. The collection would either be completely destroyed and the ashes thrown in the sea, where the abyss is deepest, or it would be hidden away in the deepest vault not of the Smithsonian Institute but of some of the higher ranking entities within TPTB, maybe the Vatican archives or Rothschild's private collections. This is stuff that nobody, NOBODY! is ever supposed to see. I particularly like the little Cthulhu-thing and the little elder thing from Antarctica. Merrylin must have been into H. P. Lovecraft before it was cool.
Giant kudos to whoever did this, I would love to visit this place, it is absolutely amazing and speaks of outstanding creativity, craftsmanship and a true and deep love and understanding of everything that is considered "phantastic". It also shows excellent knowledge in comparative anatomy. The things are done believably. They could actually be real, functional creatures. It also completely nails the atmosphere of a true 19th century naturalist cabinet. So it actually is near perfection in my eyes, because it covers all the things that I love the most (except my family that is). I am absolutely sure that places exactly like this (meaning: even weirder) are somewhere to be found, but we will never get to see them, or if we do, it will be the last thing we see in our lives.
