What wars are we talking about here? Additionally what about the English name for the Danes covered by the tan ngram chart?

Looks like the name "Vikings" starts to appear around the 18th-19th centuries. That's a good long while after the late 11th century. If they did not call themselves vikings back then, why did the name get assigned 500+ years later?

It was the rise of the nation states so we needed an origin story. We got it from a coorperation with the cultural elite of London, only a few decades after we were defeated by the British Empire.

The first thing that came into my head when I saw that picture was depictions of Conquistadors?

The rest of my comments are some general thoughts in response to your thread. Apologies in advance if I randomly jump around here but my brain tends to notice/recall patterns and links, and I have had several beers and some wine tonight!

Should the Normans be brought into the mix here? 'men from the north' so presumed to be Vikings originally. Maybe they were always one in the same but the Normans being closer to the truth with Vikings a mythical version of themselves to conveniently explain away lost centuries and to hide how some territories were actually taken over?

I have recently watched several videos from this YT channel Asha Logos on the subject of Scythians and Goths having their true importance in history hidden. I took from his videos that they could be a more widespread culture that is an ancestry of Vikings (unless I completely got the wrong end of the stick from his videos  ). Asha Logos

In this thread several times the "red hairs" are mentioned. I recommend the brochure from Charles Wiseman: Who is Esau - Edom

At birth, Esau was red and hairy, and he became a wandering hunter ...

I've thought about the term Vikings a few times and vassilated between what a few others mentioned.
VI (6) - kings
Zwei (German for 2) - kings

Super interested in the Eric the 6th angle though. Think you might be on to something.

He was called Eric the "Victorious" and apparently Victory and Viking share an etymology with "Weik" which means to conquer or overcome.

This is fun, I tried gingers
Gingers
and got the same results, so nobody was commenting on the hair color and yet being a red head is pretty rare, so you would think it would be worth commenting about.
some really interesting facts, genetic facts about Redheads, pretty good stuff here. they are not exactly like the rest of us. After you read this, you might be wondering what color eyes the red-headed elongated skull people had. not that there is any mention of elongated skulls, but I just thought about the red hair and the rarity of blue eyes.

Why Red Hair And Blue Eyes Is So Rare, Plus 4 Other Surprising Facts About Redheads

Erik the Red would have mostly likely had red hair, but is is ever mentioned, other than his name. I mean i thought it was interesting too that red hair isn't mentioned until around 1750.
This thread might be dying out, but some people might look here to glean info and food for thought.

Probably the red headed were pretty common long ago. Many old newspaper accounts stated, " Red headed Giants found in grave." It was a notable feature.

Apparently Mohammed, who started the Muslim cult, dyed his hair red. And some of his followers still do that today. I have never seen one but I did read some articles about that.

My friends had several children and then some red headed children. The parents were shocked for years. Then they went to a family reunion in Arkansas. A quite elderly lady said, "Oh! Your red headed children look just like great Uncle George." So the red hair genes skipped perhaps 6 or 7 generations.

"Giants" mean extra tall people. Looking at ancient photos and paintings from a little longer ago past, it appears as if many of the fair-skinned tall people had strawberry blonde, red hair.

On the giant note, some had different genetics (skull, double rows of teeth, red hair.) But the recent so-called Tartarian ones may be a different human group, more like like ours. In the more "recent" photos many of them have dark hair, looking somewhat "Russian.".

By the way, when I look at those photos and paintings I notice an almost regular torso but extra long arms and very long legs.

I have not heard anyone say it, surprisingly, but hiding in mountains, enduring wars, almost starvation, cataclysmic events... can cause malnutrition/small babies/ people. As do incubators.
My father was born in 1919 in a well to do family. They had just enough food during the wars and " The Great (?) Depression." His parents were quite short but he, 6 ft tall, which was tall when I was growing up. People said, "Wow your father is tall!' Now my sons are six seven, six five, six five, and six foot.

Currently a LOT of grandparents have quite tall grandchildren, but not as many have red headed ones.

VI is 6. Six Kings. Exactly what the mountain in South Dakota was called before they seemed to have put 4 famous Americans on it with concrete, and for some reason changed it to Mount Rushmore. Rushing more to cover up evidence of the great flood perhaps?

When I studied other various photos, to my amazement, it looked like a pileup of gigantic creatures. To the left it looks exactly like some kind of parts of a reptile. And to the right I distinctly see at least two huge faces partly squished. What was under these new four facades was something they definitely tried to obliterate, and fast.

And his descendants cannibals. They hunt.
