I probably began looking for 'giant' articles about 10 years ago. One article (which I haven't been able to find again) was about a man who took a cloak woven of the hair of a red haired giant around to fairs on the East coast of America. Today while looking for new articles on 'giants' I found this site and thought you might like to have a look.

I don't even know why this is an issue, there were giants in the past, period. t's just weird how nobody really wants to talk about it, or teach it etc. When I think it's a big deal. Pun intended. I mean it's one thing about our past that there is actually proof of, the photos are real and any representations of giants, people in old art, carvings, statues, paintings etc, I think they are true representations of the discrepancies in the size of various humans types. And really all the giant sized buildings with the huge doorways, especially going back to ancient times (whatever that means anymore) but they appear extremely old to me, Petra, the scale of the buildings are huge. Then throw in myths and legends, we are really missing a bigger picture here aren't we. What's the deal, why don't we know anything. And then I think how now, most people can't trace their own personal history further back than a few hundred years at best, if even that.

Also if historically speaking if it is a known fact that some of the Roman Rulers were 8'5" tall, seems like that would be something that needs to be talked about and not just by us.

When I got directed to youtube to watch a chemtrail video, I noticed this it fits right into this thread.

So I just found this in reference to size of humans:

Avasarpiṇī is the descending half of the cosmic time cycle in Jainism and the one in which the world is said to be at present. According to Jain texts the Avasarpiṇī is marked by a decline in goodness and religion. The ascending half of the cycle is called utsarpiṇī, which is marked by the ascent of goodness and religion.
The sixth period will be the age of intense misery and sorrow, making it impossible to practice religion in any form. The age, height and strength of the human beings will decrease to a great extent. In this era people will live for no more than 16–20 years. This trend will start reversing at the onset of utsarpiṇī kāl.
It is said that at the end of this period, humans will be no more than one cubit in height, and twenty years in age.

Avasarpiṇī - Wikipedia

And I realized that the giants of the past were the normal humans at one point, and in the future it will be us who are the giants. The new human race in the next cycle of things will probably be very small...

I can't find my post right now where I speculated that the giants and gods of the past were us, but Ill add it later.

Does it say where those giant sized rifles were found or where they came from? At first glance I thought they might have just been long barreled rifles to increase accuracy at a longer distance but the one guy can't even reach the trigger with his hand extended so they're definitely not made for our size hands. And since guns haven't been around for thousands of years, whoever was wielding those weapons originally had to have been of fairly recent times too.

Normal people making giant size rifles doesn't make sense to me. Even claims that they were mounted on boats and basically used as artillery for duck hunting smells of bullshit. Why not just use regular artillery in that case, or design artillery that fires a smaller caliber of ammunition for more accuracy? Why design something that is essentially just a super-sized, handheld gun and then build all sorts of awkward workarounds for using it?

Generally, whenever the accepted interpretation effectively boils down to "people of the past were just kind of stupid", it's time to be skeptical.

Colorized image of Douglas MacArthur on what appears to be a very intricate stool made for bigger people.

Interesting. It appears that New York Times deleted every single giant skeletons related article linked to the OP.

This topic reminds me of this quote from 'Night and Day' by Virginia Woolf, in which Katherine, who is described as being very tall herself, shows her grandfather's study to someone:
“This is his writing-table. He used this pen,” and she lifted a quill pen and laid it down again. The writing-table was splashed with old ink, and the pen disheveled in service. There lay the gigantic gold-rimmed spectacles, ready to his hand, and beneath the table was a pair of large, worn slippers, one of which Katharine picked up, remarking:
“I think my grandfather must have been at least twice as large as any one is nowadays. This,” she went on, as if she knew what she had to say by heart, “is the original manuscript of the ‘Ode to Winter.’ The early poems are far less corrected than the later. Would you like to look at it?”
While Mr. Denham examined the manuscript, she glanced up at her grandfather, and, for the thousandth time, fell into a pleasant dreamy state in which she seemed to be the companion of those giant men, of their own lineage, at any rate, and the insignificant present moment was put to shame.
Just want to mention that this story is just a normal story, not a fantasy, etc. one of these days i'd like to start a thread of odd/notable statements in old books of fiction- i typically prefer old classics that are rooted in the realities of the day, and often there are little statements that allude to the topics discussed in this forum.:)

Regarding the story that the quote is from:

'Night and Day is a novel by Virginia Woolf first published on 20 October 1919. Set in Edwardian London, Night and Day contrasts the daily lives and romantic attachments of two acquaintances'. Not,' night and day is a fanciful tale about a descendent of giants'

I remember seeing items like those at the Open Air Museum in Arnhem, NL. I never considered it as possible giant's furniture, but I was perplexed as to how comfortable it would be to sleep in one of them. If nothing else, I have to admit it would be better for retaining warmth than a modern conventional bed.
